Sky News Today presenter Dermot Murnaghan will step out from behind the newsdesk this coming weekend to take on the Bwlch and Rhigos Pass in the 2010 Verenti Dragon Ride. Murnaghan, who hosted both the Team Sky launch and the British Cycling 50th Anniver-sary Gala Dinner earlier this year, will swap sharp suits for saddle on June 6th.
Riding alongside thousands of others the award winning journalist will tackle Britain’s Best Loved Sportive with friends and colleagues from BSkyB, some of whom are using the Verenti Dragon Ride as their final preparations for l’Etape du Tour.
In addition to his passion for horse racing and Arsenal Football Club the Sky News an-chor man is also a keen and capable cyclist who is actively involved in Sky’s promotion of cycling as both a leisure activity and a transport solution.
“ It’s a pleasure to welcome all keen riders on the Verenti Dragon Ride,” says organiser Lou Lusardi “we know that Dermot loves his cycling and it’s great to have him along for the ride!”
The 2010 Verenti Dragon Ride is also expecting to welcome several other big name rid-ers including hill climb ace Matt Clinton, targeting the fastest time of the day and current holder of that fastest time, Daniel Lloyd of Cervelo Test Team, who finished Giro d’Italia duties at the weekend.
Also riding will be Eurosport cycling commentator David Harmon and partner Jez Hast-ings on board their Dolan super tandem, Rocket 1, in a tune up for their Team Wiggle Tandem road record attempts later in the month. www.teamwiggletandem.com _________________ www.veloriders.co.uk |
