Fun for all the family with Youth's races, a flying lap challenge, stalls, give aways by Decathlon and a 2/3/4 Crit that hasn't made it onto the BC website. All at Giltbrook Retail Park on Sunday July 10th.

Entry for all events (including the Crit) is via The Broxtowe Council Website:

http://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=8730

Come and enjoy the novelty of racing in front of a crowd.

Just 2 weeks to go now and I still haven't seen any publicity for this event. I live nearby and drive or ride past IKEA twice a day, sometimes even through the site.

Last weekend I leafleted the whole of Smithurst Road estate,
and was told that the rest of the area, Newthorpe etc., would be done by others, but you are right, Sad
I even went to Decathlon on Wednesday and saw nothing about the event Confused

Just come back from a meeting on it. The banners are to go up at the Park next week and posters in Decathlon.

Our club has been out for the last three weekends promoting it.

Thank you Bob for posting leaflets. Decathlon have posters to go up in store.

The Crit has 20 entrants so 20 paces spare and it is correctly listed on BC site.

There are go races for kids and adults, stall, trick bikes, stalls and shows. It's our first go at this - please support it if you are anywhere near. If you want to promote an event or your club then please do let me know and we can allocate you a space. Businesses that are not in direct competition with Decathlon/Ikea/Next can be considered!

This year is the 40th anniversary of the Race of the Year when local man John "Mooneyes" Cooper of Derby on works Production Triumph Trident beat multiple world champion Giacomo Agostini on a works prototype MV Agusta racing machine. Also present will be many past superstars including "King" Kenny Roberts, Jim Redman OBE, Phil Read, Sammy Millar OBE (13 times world trials champion).

Adpoo wrote on a thread which is probably deleted that the Broxtowe BC race was correctly described on the BC site. On the BC site it was listed as 40 mins + 5 laps. However on the night it was announced as 45mins + 5 laps. A massive 12.5% increase in the time!

So you had to watch an extra 5mins of racing, did you have something more pressing to do! Rolling Eyes

I agree that 5 mins is a useful amount of time. However, in this case, the point I was making is that BC East Midlands seem incapable of getting anything right.
