Update.
Entries are slowly trickling in (currently have 18 elegible entries) with the closing date of Sunday 8 May rapidly approaching.
I read on here riders moaning about the lack of road racing so where are you all! Is there not, after all, a need for more road races. You are all happy to ride round and round and round at Darley and Mallory.
Also there are still at least 4 more marshals required for the event to go ahead. A big thank you to those of you who have already offered your services, greatly appreciated. _________________ Pete Lifford

If it makes it easier, Karen Lifford (the REO) will be at Mallory on Thursday evening and at the Lincoln GP on Sunday and riders can hand their entry to her saving postage. Look for the BC car. |

If it's any help, we can act as a central collection point at the Lincoln GP. We'll be in the green and white tent selling bike bits, somewhere in Castle Square.

Will team cars be allowed? or will Neutral service cars be allowed to provide services other than wheel change to particular teams eg drinks, tactical advice etc? |

Ray,
Why do you keep chipping away? Are you trying to prove something? I thought after your experience following the BUCS road race last year you were having nothing else to do with cycle events or British Cycling in general.
Are you proposing to ride the race with all these questions? _________________ Pete Lifford

I am a member of British Cycling, but only because they gave me a free membership. I assume they have a reason for this generosity. This gives me a right to question East Midlands BC activity. Others have posted about the sad decline of the East Midlands Road Racing and Track scene. I keep chipping away because I am also concerned about this decline. I am not particularly trying to prove anything, just trying to find out why it is that we still have no replacement for Harvey Haddon or Leicester Tracks and why the East Midlands road racing programme continues to decline And why BC are so secretive about their plans.
How many entries have you got for the Regional Championship? The last I heard was 18 which is pathetic.
The East Midlands Region website is a joke, totally out of date. You can't even find the names of regional officials and the list of clubs is out of date by several years.
Why do the regional officials not apply even the most basic BC rules and regulations in respect of road and circuit racing? Recipe for disaster.
Further to your comments about the BUCS national championship race, I have to say that I was disappointed that the East Midlands appointed BC Commissaire did not respond to emails or phone calls in respect of my complaints about the organisation of this event. Although asked by the Commissaire to act as the sole motorcycle marshal at this event, I only found out the venue 2 days before after considerable effort on my part. Nevertheless, I presented myself at the event and did my best. After the event no thanks from the commissaire, no thanks from the organiser, not even a cup of tea and to cap it all my agreed and very minimal expenses not paid. My motorcycle marshalling was done at my own expense and risk and under my own insurance.
BC East Midlands do not even have the most basic ideas about motivating volunteer individuals to assist with cycling events.
I am not intending to ride this event due to a knee injury. I had intended to personally sponsor a team, but as you are not able to ensure that the race will be fair to all competitors I am currently unwilling to do this. |

Is there a Rule that says Junior riders can't enter the Div Champs? Or one which says only 2nd year Juniors can enter, Had a look on rules at BC, can't see anything, but then I ain't good at finding things... |
