Question to East Mids: Has anyone looked into the possibility of racing at the recently re-opened (after extensive refurbishment) Blyton Park circuit? |

Hi Ray,
I looked at Blyton (very briefly) a few years ago - and it made the set up at Darley look state of the art
Not following local motorsport closely, I wasn't aware that any refurbishment was underway. It might well be worth another look. Thanks for the heads up. |

According to the website
"The Phased Development of Blyton Park
Phase One: Lay a new 1.6 mile tarmac circuit for track day and sprint use. This circuit has been designed with input from some of the UK’s leading road test and racing drivers to optimise enjoyment for drivers of all ability in all sorts of cars. It will feature slow, medium and high speed corners but will provide wide run-off areas with no solid objects or barriers to punish the over-ambitious. Early 2011.
Phase Two: Improve spectator and competitor facilities. Major earthworks to provide improved viewing areas. A new amenities building will be constructed with kitchen, changing and toilet facilities. New toilet block and paddock area. Completion by mid-2011.
Phase Three: More tarmac to give areas for autotesting, auto-solo and a bigger variety of circuit layouts. Early 2012."
Phase 1 is complete and officially open with ambitious plans to rapidly develop the extra facilities. Could be a good time to contact the leaseholder? Perhaps even influence the developments?
PS, not sure what you mean about "makes Darley Moor look state of the art". Have you been to Darley Moor recently or looked at their website? Darley Moor is "state of the art" as far as UK motorsport circuits are concerned. For 2011 they have even provided roofs on the toilet blocks! |
