Eurosport every time. Thecommentary team seem far more in touch with things than Phil/Paul.
Good example yesterday, link to Harmon/Kelly lost, Carlton Kirby just slotted in seamlessly from the studio in Paris. After the H/K duo had commentated and chatted all day, with asides from CK. A really good team withy the added charm of Sk's interesting accent, phrases and clear insights. |
More surprisingly CK didn't use his stock phrase at all
Here we go..... |
I like CK in he role he has in the Tour. Not keen on him as the main commentator. |

I think it's all those nicknames they slot in too. Is Hushovd really known as "the god of thunder big Thor Hushovd" to his mates, all the time, everytime they meet him? (maybe his mrs introduces him that way?)
"Big George Hincapie" what is it with the 'big' thing?

Did you not see the presentation where they rose up on the stage and he had a huge hammer and wig?
GH is about 6'3 isn't he? That make him huge for a cyclist. |

So far today on BBC Radio 4 & 5, i've heard Hushovd pronounced 3 different ways.
Unsurprisingly Simon Brotherton was the only one who got it correct.
Enjoying the coverage on 5Live SportrsXtra. _________________ i can't listen to that much Wagner.I start getting the urge to conquer Poland-Woody Allen |

Its the years of eating rotting fish and then gargling with a snaps/gravel mix to kill the taste that does it.... |

ITV4 are live every day too. It's pretty amazing we get the choice. Not that many years ago we only had 30mins highlights on C4 each night - make that about 15 mins racing minus ads and features.
|
Go back a bit further and there was only brief highlights on ITV's 'World of Sport' programme.
Biggest advantage to me of ITV4's coverage is that it is subscription free. |
We also have the ever excellent Simon Brotherston on 5Live extra. Great for a day like today where not much is liable to happen until the last 10k. Just had a a nice interview with Kimmage that almost didn't mention d0ping at all... _________________ ... |

They were just chatting on 5Live extra to a journalist from Luxembourg (Luxembourgish?) who mentioned that yesterday Frank Schleck had a bee in his mouth that gave him an injection _________________ Thinking about riding since 1988 |

I heard a 'blue touch paper has been lit' on stage 1. I thought that was a Porterism only. _________________ Adam

I wonder if we'll hear the timeless classics again:
"bridge to engine room- MORE POWER!"
and
"delving deep in the suitcase of desire" which has to be said is sheer cycling commentary brilliance imho. _________________ Team VeloRiders- like Rock Racing, only far more perverted. |

I love their commentary but take exception to the 'big heads of state' which doesn't make any sense at all. |

'Not his style of finish' - huh?

Sherwen just loves 'job of work'
I think it justifies it all for him somehow
The American BMC team, sponsored in America have certainly done their job of work today , although Chris Horner seems to be getting his job done at the head of affairs..... |

I just hope before I die to hear Paul "Gee Bert" Sherwen announce that a rider "has pulled over for a pi$$-stop" _________________ The right to bear arms is slightly less ludicrous than the right to arm bears. (Chris Addison)
