What was the point? it was not long enough to shake things up or produce any useful results and basically hands the yellow to whoever happened to cross the line first yesterday from whichever team won.
I CBA to watch it. _________________ Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

The point.
1. It's a great cycling discipline
2. Correct to have it short, Grand Tours aren't about TTT time differences any more than time bonuses from stage wins & intermediate sprints (yes I know there are none this year, so Cav won't be race leader come what may)
3. The best teams in the world, on top form, so superb (IMO) spectacle.
What's not to like? More interesting than all but the last 10K today, I expect. _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

you might as well have drawn the names out of a hat. _________________ Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

I used to dislike the long TTTs which had a bigger impact on the overall with 7/8 from the same team all on the same time, (it made the GC look "ugly") and could lose the Tour for GC contenders with weak teams.
But I enjoy the modern short TTTs and yesterday was just perfect.
Interesting to note the approach of the GC contenders - Contador following the wheels through in a weaker team and limiting his loses, Schlek letting Cancellera do all the work to gain a handy 20 odd secs on Contador, and Evans towing his team along and expending a lot of energy this early to the same effect as Schlek. _________________ ...

yeah thats the point it's been a 'double ' prologue in a way
it is a spectacle and the longer ones of the past favoured certain teams over others who would then keep the yellow jumper to the mountains. The GC now has a good mix of teams , possibles to take the yellow...I think it set things up nicely for the next few days |

Arguably a better means of establishing an early yellow jersey than a prologue?
At least in theory you get a strong team capable of controlling the peleton through the first week and Hushovd has been a very worthy yellow jersey wearer IMHO _________________ Blame me for robbing Peter but don't you blame Paul |
