"Development opportunities for are being sought for further new tracks to be built in the North East, Yorkshire, Eastern, South East and South West regions."

So, nothing in the East Midlands.

and Derby at a detailed planning stage

Whether the plans will actually come to anything is another thing Rolling Eyes

Hopefully this time they are not relying on the support of a flaky five a side company to make things happen.

I've asked Derby City Council to keep us (Derby Merc) in the loop re. the track and road circuit but they aren't interested - they just say local cyclists will be consulted at the appropriate time.

I know they've worked with BC on it so you just have to put your faith in them to steer the council in the right direction.

As far as how advanced the plans are - some guy fairly high up in the process has posted on the Derby Mercury forum under the name "poppit" asking for opinions on circuits at Shrewsbury, Solihull etc - this is what passes for consultation in Derby City Council - initially he started posting because he objected to one or two people being cynical about the thing being built ! Anyway he's discussed a bit of how far advanced they are in that thread - I don't really understand the detail but if anyone is really interested you could ask him a few questions through that.

www.derbymercury.org.uk then forum "general chat" the thread is at the bottom of the first page - think you have to register to post but anyone can read.

no doubt the "appropriate time for consultation" will be just too late to do any good!

Over at the Forest Town track we are aware that what happens re this development will affect the league at FT one way or another. We will be having a meeting with Karen Lifford soon to discuss this and how it affects our development plan long term.

Derby Velodrome got a mention on BBC East Mids news this lunchtime - in the context of a retail development at Pride Park. Had artists impression of Pride Park with the velodrome visible in the background.
