Loads of cyclist use this road, which is supposed to be a no through route for motor vehicles.
Just recently there have been some tasty confrontations between cars and bikes as the road is quite narrow, and it seems to be getting worse.
Anyway a couple of us have got on to Highways and Police who are now having a site meeting next week with a view to blocking it off permanently with concrete blocks.
If anybody fancies letting them know of any problems you've been having then ring 101 and ask for Loughborough Police, quote incident number 165-24112011, or Leics Highways on 0116 305 0001 ref number 4368084.
It would be nice to spin round some of the corners without some nork pretending to be a rally driver coming the other way.

Is that the lane that goes past the shooting club and the model plane flying club?

Can't see you having much luck here Julian, it's not really feasible to block off the road. There will need to be access maintained to the farm on the sawley side and the shooting club and model flying club grounds on the Kegworth side. The best you are likely to get is signs up restricting through traffic, but as it's not likely to be policed, folks will continue to use it as a cut through.

They did put lockable metal barriers up a few years ago but they were inevitably left open so defeating the object.

Yeah, hear what you're saying Steve, worth a try though, not my idea to block it off, that's what police and highways are looking at. The gate was welded shut by the council to stop it being pinched, believe it or not.
I suppose anything would help to try and keep a lid on the increasing traffic.

I know it's called the Warren, but if you didn't know it was called the Warren, you wouldn't know where it was!

The actual gate is here, junction Long Lane and Ratcliffe Lane. (if this link works)

Good luck with this - that cut through is definitely getting worse for traffic and the longer it's left open as a through road the more motorists are going to get wise to it.

it is very dangerous and has been open to through traffic for years now. If there is a problem at kegworth it becomes a rat run even more than usual.
I avoid it in the dark, it's not much better in daylight.
As has already been said access is required both ways I'm not sure how long any block put in would remain. It's been tried before and never lasts long.
Good luck.

I'd been wondering about this for some time, but can't come up with a reasonable way of stopping through traffic using it. As said above, only takes a small problem on the A6 and it's a right rat run.

Hope issue can be resolved, I seem to spend most of my time riding down there tip-toeing around the corners in case some nob comes flying around.
