Dinner Date For Heanor

Heanor Clarion are celebrating 70 years as a section of the National Clarion Cycling Club and an anniversary dinner is being organised for November.

Although the club can boast two members with more than 60 years of continuous membership in John Leese and Derek Gasoigne, they are a club for all ages and abilities.

Longstanding member Don Flint's work with young cyclists, in particular, has attracted praise from all around the country and the highest-profile Heanor member is currently a woman, Californian Sandy Meister-Meredith, who narrowly missed out on a medal in the World Masters Championships in Belgium recently and was the winner of the women's title in the Notts and Derby Cyclo-cross League.

The club hope to attract as many former members as possible to the anniverary dinner.
