Can't give you an update just lately as the only two Cafe's I've been to recently are 'The Limes' and 'Sedgebrook'. Yes they are both cheap but I don't eat anything from either, mug of tea, thank you.

Today on my 60 miler round leics/derbyshire, I visited the melbourne hall tea rooms and very nice they were too. pot of tea and beans on toast, the princely sum of £3.35. Cool
Very nice serving wenches too, only open at weekends until february/march (depends on weather apparrently)
They are tucked away near the church on the road out of melbourne towards wilson.
The cafe was great, sadly the climb to breedon wasn't Crying or Very sad

normally don't bother stopping at Gates..roll down the hill and go to Ashwell garden centre. a bit cheaper, better coffee & eye candy, fewer grumpy old farts smelling of pee and less risk of having ya bike nicked.

sounds good to me Idea
On the subject of bikes getting nicked apparently 2 were stolen from outside the cafe in long clawson last week. There is a yard at the back of the cafe, which is much safer than leaving your bike out the front.

I saw a classic example of cyclist tightness a few weeks ago: Me and my gang were in Thixendale village hall (excellent & cheap as chips - open sundays only, run by community rota in the last village in England to get television). Four cyclists arrive outside, but only two come in. About half an hour later we leave, only to find two Hullite cyclists, shivering and eating sandwiches on the doorstep in 4 degrees centigrade. Good on the other two in the group for taking their time and enjoying the central heating though.
