In what way? They thought they could give him a wild card because he doesn't qualify, but it has been pointed out to them they can't so it's been recinded.

The CTT did recind and give him a wild card, but now he's not riding it. Can't blame him after the way they mucked him about TBH.

CTT say that because they have a full field, they couldn't give him a wildcard and get away with it because they wouldn't have a leg to stand on if someone complained about not getting an entry (Testers: Someone WILL complain)

A bit iffy for CTT to award the WC then rescind it but there we go. What people seem to have overlooked in this instance is what an utter Gent Alex has been about the whole thing.

They didn't muck him about. He also can't say he is not riding it through his choice as he has not been given a start anyway. They may have been premature in telling him they will give him a wild card, but they were also fairly quick to correct that error when they disscovered they couldn't do that. It's still 3 weeks away so not exactly a last minute thing is it?

When I ran the National Hill Climb Champs in 1974 Joe Waugh entered but didn't have a past performance as he had been racing in France. The National Committee put him in because they felt he was a possble winner. The event was held on the Holme Moss road (the only time it's been used, I think) in a gale force wind and Joe Waugh won it.

Have the rules been changed? Shocked

Did you have a full field? If you did then I have no idea what rules were in place then, but current rules do not allow for it - and as far as I know they never did.

They didn't muck him about...

Paul
Paul, they did. They told him he was in and then told him he wasn't. That is mucking about.

I simply mean that it must say something about their organisation if they've written their own rules which dont allow any discretion to award an entry to riders such as Mr Dowsett, what's that all about? Regardless of whether they could or could not get him to ride this time, why is there no provision to allow him to enter? Bizarre no?

Because back in the 50's, where the CTT inhabit, there aren't any foreign based pro Brits.
