On the back of our Olympic and world cup and TDF successes will our sport continue to flourish and grow in the public psyche, so much so that it becomes as ingrained in our culture as much as in other european countries?

I think we will always be a minority sport, but I think we will have far more credibility than in the past and be less of a minority (or to be honest joke) than we have been in the past. _________________

I don't think many civilians connect seeing track cycling with seeing a rider out trraining on the road, or even a domestic RR. In fact they'd mostly be astonished if you pointed out the world champions in a normal E/1/2/3 holding up their drive to B&Q.
Maybe the evening crit series next series will make a bit more impression on the public of road events. To really establish road cycling (and that is, after all, 99% of competitive cycling) in the public psyche will take some prolonged and aggressive marketting and promoting in the public's face. Probably against their wishes. Until they get used to the idea. _________________ Rich |

Cracking statement. The average joe does not think ooh look a cyclist he might be a world champion. NO he thinks look at that Wan**ker... My
other thought is things might be slightly different if a British rider won the Tour.
By the way cycling is a minority sport in every country not just ours. _________________ rutrainingtoday .co .uk
