Spinning is easy, its when you add resistance to it that it starts to hurt.
I time trial at 100-110 rpm (perhaps a little lower on steep hills) but do spend most RR's and crits higher than 110rpm, nearer 120rpm. I probably use similar gears just go slower in the TT's |

The other night I jumped on the turbo. Changed into my normal warm-up gear and it felt easy. Clicked up a couple and still felt good - "Christ, I must be going alright" I thought to myself. Came to the heavier stuff and instead of doing about 44kmh I was doing over 100kmh. "Sweet Jesus" I thought to myself, "I could win the TdF with this sort of form". It was at this point I realised I had forgotten to click the roller onto the tyre. |
