Double Olympic medallist Rob Hayles and his new Endura Racing team will be using sleepathlete’s range of specifically designed sleeping recovery products for sport in 2010. As well as using the tailored sleeping products for each of the team’s 15 riders, Endura are calling in the consultancy services of leading professional sports sleeping coach, Nick Littlehales, to help them achieve a consistent performance gain in competition. Littlehales has 25 years experience in the field of sleep coaching and his services have been used by many individuals and teams in professional sport, including the England national football team and Premiership football clubs.
sleepathlete’s revolutionary range features a multitude of different product options that are specifically suited to the needs of individual riders in the Endura team. During consultations with the team in their upcoming training camp in Nice, sleep coach Littlehales will discuss each rider’s requirements and try to combat any sleeping problems through practical advice and product recommendations from the sleepathlete range.
In a sport that focuses so heavily on marginal gains and the science of recovery, it seemed logical for Endura to look to sleepathlete to help their riders attain the mental and physical rewards from fine-tuning the natural recovery process. Jim McFarlane, Director of Endura said: “Endura are always looking for ways to give our riders the best possible advantages for the coming season, so we’re looking forwarding to developing an advantage and looking after our riders wellbeing.”
Rider/Manager of Endura Racing, Rob Hayles said: “I’m really looking forward to getting hold of the sleeping products down at the camp in Nice. Sleep is a massive part of cycling, for me it’s a third of the overall package, along with your nutrition and your training. So this is a big part of my strategy and hopefully it will be a big leap forward for the team as a whole.”
He continued: “It’ll mean that my riders can recover quicker and recover better day in, day out, especially during stage races. If we’re doing four or five day stage races, the type of recovery has to be optimum. Along with sleepathlete we should be able to push the boundaries of that even more so than we would have before.”
Endura’s impressive 2010 racing calendar will mean that riders will have to deal with the associated travelling and varied accomodation, sleepathlete products are designed to be portable and practical. Riders will be encouraged to use their sleeping products on the go to make themselves feel as comfortable as if they were at home, wherever they are in the world. As a special treat for the Endura Racing team, riders will be supplied with sleepathlete *CENSORED* which feature an iPod/MP3 connection, helping them to develop a sleeping and relaxation routine on the move.
Nick Littlehales, MD of sleepathlete said: "The services of sleepathlete have been capitalised on by a whole host of mainstream sports looking for the edge over the competition. We've got a great background in football, but have highlighted that cycling is developing into a massive sport, and it's one that requires optimum recovery."
He added: "Any high-level exercise is strenuous on the body, especially so in cycling, so it made perfect sense for our range of specifically designed sleeping products for sport and consultancy services to be used with a team like Endura. We're thoroughly looking forward to getting stuck in with the team and improving their recovery, especially in training camps and stage races; at the top of cycling it's the marginal gains that make the final difference."
sleepathlete’s products and services are just as applicable to amateur athletes looking to get ahead and improve their day-to-day recovery.
