hit the deck jan 17th,on the side where i broke my shoulder and collar bone in 2005,shoulder never really recovered from that, rebanging it has meant i was unable to lift things and point right,AM LOADS BETTER but it seems to be aching more this last week, especially as ive been doing hills and am out of the saddle,is it a ligament thing do you reckon and how long will that take?cant do weights anymore either unless they are below the shoulder line
went to A+E origionally but they told me to wait "5 mins" so i timed it to the second and when 5 mins was up i made speedy exit |

Could be deep muscular.
Get it checked.
Takes a while to get proper mobility though. _________________ And the senses being dulled are mine. |

Really depends how you hit the deck. If you just landed hard and bruised the joint, time and exercise/stretching should sort it.
But shoulder separation is a possibility – common skiiing/rugby injury as you hit the ground fast but at a shallow angle, tends to push the shoulder downwards, stretching the wossnames (technical term) that hold the shoulderblade to the collar bone. Mild separation is a short term ache, but it goes all the way up to something debilitating, shoulder hanging an inch low, needing a complex operation that's not guaranteed to be any better than the injury itself. Better to break your collar bone, frankly.
But since if you've done it, you've already done it, best get it checked by a doctor who's used to sports injuries if possible. |

Frozen shoulder?
Comes on gradually, very painful and takes ages to get mobility back. Mine started after a minor fall and took at least a year to get back to near enough normal with excercise and physio.
Know someone who ripped his ligaments in a snowboard incident and had the operation to wire them back together, not fun but he is OK now.
However other than the fact that his shoulder was visibly not normal the pain and mobility problems were much the same.
Moral of the story get it checked out...... _________________ 2008 Ladies Hoop Race World Champion
