Honda (UK) extends its association with cycling in the UK by announcing a number of World Class cycling partnerships with The Tour of Britain, The Halfords Tour Series and World Champion Ed Clancy.
For the second successive year Honda is the official car partner for The Tour of Britain, the UK's premier professional cycle race which takes place in September, attracting over a million spectators each year. The 50-strong fleet of support vehicles will be made up of Swindon-built Civics and CR-Vs as well as low emission Insight hybrids which will be used for routing, planning, marketing and during the actual cycling event itself.
Honda are also pleased to continue their partnership with Ed Clancy, who rode to spectacular victory taking Omnium Gold and giving Great Britain their 3rd Gold in the Track Cycling World Championship in Copenhagen. Ed Clancy who drives a Civic Type R will continue to be the face of Honda’s Tour of Britain activation campaign this summer.
To further extend its portfolio of cycling associations, Honda will also partner The Halfords Tour Series, a city centre racing series which takes place from 25th May to the 25th June, providing vehicle support to the race organisers.
Sarah Fowler, Partnerships and Community Relations Manager for Honda (UK) said: “We are delighted to continue working with the organisers of The Tour of Britain and Halfords Tour Series to deliver an exciting series of cycling events this summer. These associations will provide a great opportunity for our network of dealers to engage with their local communities through a positive, family-orientated sport.”
The Tour of Britain’s Commercial Manager, Alastair Grant said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Honda this year to cover both The Tour of Britain and The Halfords Tour Series and look forward to working closely with them again this year. Honda’s involvement in The Tour of Britain in 2009 was hugely positive for all concerned, with Honda dealerships and staff nationwide supporting the race with events and additional activation. We look forward to working alongside the Honda team to produce even more positive results in 2010.”
World-class riders including Ed Clancy will compete in The Tour of Britain which takes place around the UK this September. Further details regarding the event will be announced shortly. _________________ www.veloriders.co.uk |
