Wow - thanks for all the input.
Glad to see I managed to initiate a geography quiz too!
For whoever asked, I'm in Ruddington, and in my 'late' 30s ! |

As said before we don't have a huge recent road racing history but we do have 3 or 4 riders currently doing most 3/4th Cat local road races. As others have said I would try around a few of the local Clubs mentioned and see which suits you best. Certainly if you are after moving towards E/1/2 category then Ashfield have that level of racer.
I am sure any of the Clubs mentioned would welcome you to try some of their club runs / events before joining. We do have most of our events based from the Lime Kiln Inn, Kinoulton Road, Cropwell Bishop, Nottingham NG12 3BH and you could have a look on the web forum for latest info: http://www.nottinghamcycling.co.uk/forum/ _________________ The Bakewell Toybox

Although we are mainly TT-based, we have a comprehensive programme of club rides. |

sherwood, clarion and mapperley all have a number of evening time trials which are good to mix with local riders.
Lowdham chaingang is good for training and i thought there were rides beeston way in the week also.
Ashfield promote a number of closed circuit events and have plenty of experience to share as well as regular club rides both in the week and at the weekends.
I'd suggest going around the club rides / meetings and find the club that suits you. Every club has its advantages and disadvantages.
