The oldest of all -- simple waist measurement -- is the best indicator. |
The British Heart Foundation share that view. |
i got a tape measure through the post from the british heart foundation about this, i thought id give it a try 31" and i was only about 1" away from being "at risk" so basically almost all of the british population is "at risk" |
It is 37" for men and 31.5" for women.

Even if I was a woman I'd be alright. Take THAT, obesity. |

Why is Dennis Tarr giving a croggy to a bloke in a reindeer jumper?

condor riders used various hand signals during this period and here you can see dennis tarr using a limp right wrist to indicate 'my seat tube requires attention'. the 'jumper' guy is randy stokes, who was the condor grease monkey. what's really sad is that woodburn and griffiths should choose to attack while tarr is in such obvious discomfort. shameful scenes |

I wouldn't say I could recall that 'attack', anymore than I can recall much else
It was pretty kn*ckering all round, and cold and damp and windy and ..... I DO recall experiencing some of the worst, completely opposite of 'support', from just a handful of spectators, on that climb. Ok, I was outclassed, as were other top UK riders. I don't think any of us expected much else but we gave it our best.
Late on, when the break was well clear, on the climb, Brian Robinson looked everyone 'up and down' as he surveyed the 'remains' and commented "Now I can understand Jim (Grieves - plus a few more he knew, from Catterick days etc) being here but you young guys should be 'up the road". Oh how we laughed! A few persevered to the end. I do wish I had done the same. |
