Should Rich Hill get a ride at the Newport Nocturne? |
No, his bikes too small, he'll look ridiculous. |

That Rich Hill has asked for a ride at the Newport Nocturne. He's a second cat and second cats are by invitation only. What do you think? Should he get to ride with Newton, Gibb, Elliott et al? _________________ The Newport Nocturne, Britain's original and best floodlit bike race! |

It's looking good, Rich. First 6 votes all in favour! (None of them think you've got potential though) _________________ The Newport Nocturne, Britain's original and best floodlit bike race! |

Is it really going to be an issue, dropped within the first few mins, lapped after 10, he'll be off the circuit, changed and taking photos within 20 mins..........
And he'll be absolutely spannered for the main event at Warwick the following day. |

I'm starting to get the impression that he's not as good as he told me he is... _________________ The Newport Nocturne, Britain's original and best floodlit bike race! |

Its probably in the middle, somewhere between me taking the pi55 and him being economical with the truth........
I wouldn't want to be denying an Elite/1st cat rider a place to get Rich in. Maybe wait till the closing date?
On the plus side its not like he is a complete novice who is going to bring half the field down on the first corner while he tries to work out why he can't get his trainer into his clips and straps....... and then unship his chain on the second corner... |

surely, you let him ride and if he finishes on the same lap as the bunch then let him have his entry fee back. if its free entry then let him ride anyway and make sure the commentator knows who he is so he can be built up in a local hero style and then ripped to bits afterwards. _________________ You don't get big legs watching telly. |

I was going to charge him 5 Grand to ride and give him half back if he wins! _________________ The Newport Nocturne, Britain's original and best floodlit bike race! |

I have always thought that Newport was less about the actual racing but more about the entertainment. On that basis you can not refuse him a ride as it will most certainly be highly entertaining!
Anyway joking apart - good on ya Rich for giving it a go. The best that can happen is you hang in there and do a good ride and have fun with everyone cheering for you. The worst is that you get lapped which happens to many of the VR population quite a lot at any track league, circuit race or cyclo cross. Go for it! |

I'm going to watch this anyway but I would LOVE it if he got a ride Agree not at the expense of better (e/1) riders but if there is space he would be CROWING about it for years to come.

Actually, there are a few places still available. The event was very late onto the BC website. At this stage I only want Elites and 1sts who are decent crit riders (Rich Hill excepted, possibly...). _________________ The Newport Nocturne, Britain's original and best floodlit bike race! |

He has had a win this year and was 4th in his last e123.
Have all of the other riders had a win? _________________ And the senses being dulled are mine. |

Offer him a year's supply of burgers if he wins and he'll lap the field. _________________ "Well done, you are 100% absolutely without a shadow of a doubt spot-bollock-on correct." - Tucker
