Reading an old Cycling October, 1971. In the Horseshoe Pass hillclimb Mark Bell rode at the age of 9yr. in 14-14.0 and brother Tony 12-39.0 both beating their father Eddie. Is this a record?
Event was won by John Clewarth 9-22.8 this was a six seconds beating of Ernie Lightfoot's course record back in 1964!
2nd was Dave Lloyd 9-24.8 |

Eileen, was this the Victoria event? If so, that gave Mark and I qualifying times to ride the national on the same course later in the month. That was a great day, the first time me and Mark raced in front of a crowd.
edit: just realised it must be the Vics event. Dad didn't ride the National. |
