came past the P & L pub today, Our friendly, tax paying, law abiding, Nomadic TravellerS who Utilise Caravans (anag) are parked on Warren Lane just around the corner from the pub, enhancing the area somewhat ! _________________ I'm not a pedestrian,a cyclist or a motorist,I'm just a human being. |

That lot have been there ages. There is also an encampment on the A50 cycle path (south side between the underpass adjacent to the railway line and the road into Lockington) again. There was a group there for most of July and this new lot have been here for a few weeks.
I must admit I haven't been down there this week as I haven't ridden to work but I assume they are still there. You can just about get through on a bike but you have to run the gauntlet of semi-feral children, un-tethered dogs and general mess. This lot don't appear to have any ponies. One of their dogs nipped my ankle last week. |

Hi Steve
Nice to see you too, don't worry about the scones we did ok on the tea cakes and bacon cobs instead. What a great day to be out though.
Yeah, the dates are every three weeks. The background is that our VCLE club run had pretty well disappeared with club members doing their own thing to meet their own competitive aims, that's fair enough. However, there's little available to cater for or attract those who want to get into cycling so, at the half yearly meeting I agreed to reinstate the Club Run as a way to accommodate new riders and those who just like a steady social ride. So, every three weeks suits me and those who want to do their own thing without feeling obliged to turn out and support the club ride every week.
As it happened we had four or five newcomers and a couple of riders who were returning to cycling, so it worked!
I've a few other ideas of a more challenging nature for the intervening weeks though, more on that in due course, keep tabs on the VCLE website for info, I'll put stuff on there as it emerges.
See you soon, I might turn up at Leisure Lakes one Sunday for a pasting! |

Sunday's Club Run to Stanton on the Wolds, Moore's Garden Centre cafe. It's a pretty flat 23 mile route to the cafe, so we should be there about 11.00ish. And it's a flat 18 mile return ride so we should be back to Sawley for 1.00pm comfortably. It looks as if it's going to be a bit chilly but as the clocks go back too there's an extra hour to get the winter togs on and warm up. |
