Oh and the gap you told me to fill Rich, you didnt tell me how fast to go across, it wasn't really that big (10m?), if you'd have said I'd have towed you across.... |
Sheesh kebab - do I have to instruct you like a robot.. .next time you along side an over weight 30 something sweating and panting like a water phobist during the monsoon - give it some thought....
And as for the gap - size is irrelevant now- you let it appear!

Question ?
What has bike cost got to do with anything ?
You still gotta pedal it and there isn't that much difference in the modern world between your Specialized and a C40
A couple of KG in bike weight ain't gonna make that much difference .... |
Certainly not a 30 mile bash route..... _________________ Imagination is the war against reality.... |

Blah blah blah . . . .
Instead of riding the local bash, just go bash the local ride instead. |

It must be a northern thing, cos people down here in the 'Midlands' (i.e. Hemel Hempstead/MK area) just go out and ride. No one moans about people being on 'best' bike (whatever that is) _________________ Straight Outta Compton |

Some years ago there used to be a young guy who always ripped things up a bit too much on the chaingang and hence wasn't too popular. I had a chat with him one night on the way home after the bash. I suggested that he did his full out stuff on his own before the bash, something like 1 min on, 1 min off for 15 / 20 mins, then join the bash and ride smooth and cruise like TTT effort. Worked for us, he was ok after that. Only a suggestion

Think it's a bit harsh slaughtering Matt publically here, I hate to admit it; but he's a mate of mine. I've never heard of anyone having a go at him on bashes before last year, the only place where I'd witnessed someone having a go is when someone from the Wheeler's attacked at a junction? (I mean, wtf?).
Me, Matt and another chap went off the front one time on the bash last year, we got away and had a good gap and stayed away for 4-5 miles with them chasing. When we finished we were applauded, 'Nice one guys! etc etc' - If I would have travelled 10 miles up the road to the other bash that goes on, I would have been shouted at. There's a difference I guess in expectations,
When Matt attacked last year, often 'Up the wall' or on some of the bigger climbs he tried to stay away as long as he could and it was up to us to work together and chase him down, bloody good training if you ask me.
Now, Rich I know you weren't in any position to go through and off because you're not fit at the moment, but if your going to get dropped, you are going to get dropped. My Dad didn't moan that anyone was dropping back and leaving gaps, because he accepts he's not fit enough to stay on and just thinks 'Well, a few of these I can stay on and do OK' _________________ http://fusion-media.co.uk

Part of this is in jest Ad and part of it is a note to Clinton just to manage his power a little better. I am pretty sure he didn't do it out of malice and was just showing off - I am fine with that (well nearly...!). I think if you were in a similar situation you would have found it quite disconcerting.

Coventry Bash - Tuesday - "6.30 from Rubicon *CENSORED* on A45 every Tuesday night until clocks go back, route changes dependant on light conditions but there's only 2 variants, short one for short nights and the longer version." - They come past the traffic lights by yours guy at around 6.42pm _________________ http://fusion-media.co.uk

Ummm.... my managing of power on Tues - I'd done 3.5hrs by this time already, at a fairly good power level; the reason why I was dropping back was becuase I couldn't hold the power that was needed to stay up near the front. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/MikeVaughanCyc
