Got to be Rog. Seems to be in the right team set-up now also. |

I do hope Roger gets at least a podium position.
Magnus Backstedt is riding well as I think I saw he got 3rd or 4th in a TT just behind Kloden and Wiggins the other day. |

hoste and van pet |
Leif Hoste - never seen him up in P-R recently which is odd considering how on form he is the week before
Van Peet - past it now and from the coverage I saw in Belgium last week his form is non-existent

And Ballan |
See my comment about Hoste - he only stood on the podium last year due to the disqualification of the 3 above him.
Now Gusev and Vaitkus - ominously strong pair who are on form currently.
But then, with me being a keyboard warrior - what do I know? |
most of the bookies have seen fit to make hoste third favourite at 7 to 1 but then what do they know about it, they only do it for a living ! _________________ lector benevole absit invidia

the same bookies that had Boonen down to win Flanders?
Seriously, I'd love to be proved wrong and the only reason I didn't put Hoste down as an option was I ran out of choices in this poll.
Reading the latest stuff on cyclingnews it seems he's up for it so You're probably right - Hoste, Ballan and Van Peet to fill the podium on Sunday and me to be having a large slice of humble pie with my roast dinner on Sunday night _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. yes the same bookies who had boonen down to win flanders and even at low odds ( 2 or 3 to 1) took and made a shedload of cash on the back of him not winning.
and no i'm not probably right on hoste ballan and van pet making the podium if you read my post you'll find no reference to who will win. I have no idea who's going to win. _________________ lector benevole absit invidia

Correct me if I'm wrong here but don't the bookies love it when outsiders win? _________________ "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." H. L. Mencken

I thought Ballan at the time was one of the outer favorites. Boonen was outright favorite.
I've just watched the re-live of gent-wevelgem and Roger did an amazing ride. Out all day in the break like a trojan horse. When Freire, Ventoso, Berghart bridge up to him he just carries on never missing a turn. The other original guys Mengin and Brard were not as strong, although mengin still did a ride. Berghart took off for the win in the last 2 km and Rog just used that tactic of sitting on any chasers wheel for the line. Freire was strongest chaser and Roger just came round him like he'd only just done 100km of training. Awesome performance from him and bodes well for P-R. I just hope the t-mobile team are right behind him and committed as he is.
Come on Roger! |
