they went all star spangled - you want the europeans - I remember seeing about 500 yanks in the town square of Bourg d'Oisans - a banner was being held aloft - maybe 2001- with something like
we came.... we saw.....conquered by the USA 2001...go Lance
they were all doing that dreadful whooping and mass hysteria
Sherwen would have said in syrupy tones -- isn't that a marvellous sight - whereas 10 years previous he would have been aghast -
I'd spend an afternoon hearing about a goats cheese marinated in muscat in some village in Langeudoc anyday |

Antony Mcrossan is developing into a decent commo. Him and BS have quite a good patter.
Harmon and Kelly for me though for the tour - duffbag is plain gone. _________________ May I present to you, the greatest breakthrough in travel since Sir Rodney Tricycle thought to himself, 'I'm bored of walking, i think i'll invent something with three wheels and a bell, and name it after myself.'

Agree with Harmon and Kelly, but if SK isn't available Graham Jones should take his place. He did Paris-Roubaix last year and I was really impressed with his ability to keep track of what was happening and how quickly he was able to identify riders.
Who's this Christy Valentine, isn't she Anderson any more? |

re Eurosport commentary teams, there has been a lot of debate on various forums regarding this matter.
On a final note, whilst we all criticise the named persons above at various points, you try doing the same job - and making it sound interesting.
Its not easy !!!! |
Flying a plane isn't easy but fortunately there are people who can do it...
The sport continually needs to attracts new blood to it, not only to survive through sponsorship but also through participation.
Whilst I am sure DD is one of life's eccentrics and some chortle at his whimsy, the truth is the man is killing the sport in my opinion. How on earth are we to get people into the sport as they try to follow his tirades.
Those who wish for the sport to be populated in the UK by elitist eccentrics have had it too good for too long, the sport desperately requires participation and acceptance by the British public for its survival - we'll never be taken seriously with this man! _________________ It's All Rideable |

It has to be David Harmon for me, with Sean alongside him. |

who are Eurosport providing the race commentary for ?
is it the "man in the street"
or
the committed racer/enthusiast who knows it all anyway ?
My point being, that whilst the majority of the veloriders on this forum understand road racing - does Eurosport provide interesting commentary for the chip munching masses ? |

Lets face it yer can't please all of the people all of the time. While DD is amusing on those long stages in the tour when there's sometimes not a lot happening, he his mind blowingly infuriating when yer need the info.
Maybe they should give him something else to do like serving cheese and biscuits to Harmon and Kelly.. |

I'm chucking in my 2p's worth.
I get thoroughly frustrated when all you get in the commentary is the aforementioned nuts and bolts, I like a bit of diversity because I'm not a rider or a techie I'm just someone who enjoys watching the damned sport when its on the road. so a little light relief is welcome.
Honestly I'm not kidding, to me a bike has wheels, and a saddle and is ridden, and track cycling I don't understand at all, in my eyes its the equivalent of hamsters running round in their little wheels going nowhere. |
