I'm have recently moved to Barrow on Soar near loughborough and although my club is only 20 miles away i'm considering joining a more local club mainly for the benefit of having group rides closer to home.

i regularly ride mtb and road bike and am looking to start road racing this year alond with a few sportives.

Which local club can you guys recomend? Advice will be much appreciated

Bradgate Road Club were very good to me when I rode for them and had members from Barrow. Not sure how active they are at the moment though, pm Dave Wilkes on here.

I suggest that when deciding to approach a club there should be two considerations

1) What the club offers you
2) What you can offer the club

It seems all too common lately to have a situation where people want do a lot of taking, but all the giving seems to rest with a few.

Hi there and welcome to the forum, I live in Sileby so pretty much the same catchment as you.
Regular sunday rides from the carpark enntrance near the roundabout, with zenith/bradgate members johny, wilkes and perks, (+ others) fast and furious not for the faint hearted Wink
Otherwise nearest local club is leicester road, at the leics outdoor pursuit centre, just off redhill island. Club runs led by dave binks.
Next there is the "legendary" melton olympic. club runs led by the man in pink "stormin" Norman portess.
Others locally include coalville wheelers, south welland, plan b, south pennine, derby mercury, or long eaton, but these are no nearer than your origonal club. What was your origonal club? 20 miles is not that far really, is it just the move which is your reason for change?

oi you Twisted Evil I was merely pointing out who's nearest, not telling him who to join.
If the lad is a fast boy perks rides will be great, if he's slightly less fast mocc are great (I know that) trouble is getting out for 8 to be in melton for 9 can be a bit difficult, driving over seems a bit wrong Confused . So that is why I mentiond LRC, BUT - having never been on a dave binks magical mystery tour Wink , I cannot comment about them.
Dave if you go to Skeggy you might get a sand-wich.
