Away in a break of 10, there's 71 mile to go on a lumpy circuit.
There's some very talented riders in the break, your feeling strong, the gap is 20 secs. |

This scenario happened to me on Saturday at Chertsey in the 3/4 race, we had about 8 in the break, with 3 laps to go of a 2 mile circuit 10 seconds on the bunch and everyone except myself sat up!!
I couldn't believe it!
We got caught obviously. _________________ www.willesdencyclingclub.co.uk |

Just go through nice and steady, and review in a few k's. If you are gaining, keep as before, if not, think about a few missed turns, pleading weakness if required. I used to do this all the time - it was genuine! _________________ Doc

Well obviously as it's over 70 miles you would make sure you had at least 2 full bottles and made sure that their was a feeding station so you could top them up every lap. _________________ I was being chased by a police dog last week, and made the mistake of trying to escape through a little tunnel, over a see-saw and through a hoop of fire. It finally caught me as I was weaving in and out of some sticks. |

You did the right thing. How about if it was 8 away and the 2 others hadn't come accross? _________________ Hoping the race organiser will give me a postcode to find the headquarters hidden in the wilderness.

Ride hard until the gap is about a minute, then relax to "long break speed", then solo away in the last 5 miles. Simple. |

I reckon you should have attacked them all and cruised the 70 miles winning by a comfortable 9 minutes.
Next time your racing Craig take your mobile, if your get confused give us a ring!
*Keep in mind that if we are in the same race I will be telling you to go easy on the hills and save it for the sprint! _________________ http://twitter.com/Si_Wilson |

I'd probably ride at about 73.6%, but you haven't made that an option so I can't help you. _________________ Seizing the day since 1988. |

If its a good group ask your self if you are someone in the group that otehrs will be looking to to set pace and work out what to do.
If the answer is yes, then if its got a chance commit, if you think not, just do what the otehrs are doing.
A lot of breaks fall down in my opinion as there are individuals adamant that the group should go harder than the others feel able. They then sit on, break over. Its all about teasing the best and most out of your rivals whilst giving as little as you can. |

Personally - after wondering how the fk I ended up off the front that far from home, I'd sit on and hope like hell that we got caught so I could sit in a bit more.
That said........... I'm probably not the right man to ask _________________ Blame me for robbing Peter but don't you blame Paul |
