Hello All,
I think that to increase the attendance of Thurdays race at Mallory can be greatly improved if it is changed to a national B.
What do you think? |

Why not run a couple as NatBs and find out - as a 3rd cat I'm going to vote no though. |

aren't they supposed to be training races? I think its great that it gives 4th and 3rd cats a chance to race and learn from elites, even if only 2 or 3 4th cats turn up. I certainly learned a lot from being able to race as a 4th cat last year.
Also should you really get 30 points for winning Mallory? I havn't heard anyone say that the reason they don't go to Mallory is because its only a Reg C! |

Can't really be called training if you get points from it. The points from there are as good as the points from any other race. |

Points mad, some people. Can't they just accept that someone is bothering to run a race for them to ride, give it their best and accept that local midweek events over relatively short distances are for training, and to help newer riders acquire skills and experience before they start out in open road races? The obsession with points is just, er, pointless! _________________ Doc

You've told me in another thread that your promotion would allow me as a 3rd cat to ride in the national B event! |

I don't see how national b points would encourage more to ride.
Some 3rd cats would still struggle to get into the top 15, so still wouldn't get points. 2nd cats would find they are gaining more points, but they are then in danger of getting upgraded to 1st cat, meaning they wouldn't be able to ride Regional A races, and would have to travel miles to race. It might actually discourage 2nd cats from racing on a Thursday.
1st cats and elites aren't bothered about points, so long as they get enough to keep their category. |

Correct |
You're both wrong. Cat C events according to the BC website have no points at all awarded. To find out what category an event is go to the BC website, select Event Calender and the East Midlands and Road Racing. Under Mallory Park you will find that both Tues and Thurs are C+ events with points for the first 10.
And you have all missed the point of Mallory. The purpose of riding at Mallory is to crush the Pearl-Izumi Team into the ground. |

Well, it's not working. They've had 5 wins already this season at Mallory . |
