On past performance the UCI like to pick opportune moments to trade blows with the Tour but when will they do it this year?
Can they beat last years week three corker of announcing three missed tests for the Yellow Jersey wearer in the run up to the tour? |

Seeing as how it's being run under FFC regulations then I think they will only be able to put their oar in before the Grand Depart. Expect a lot of noise/hot air from McQuaid during the three weeks though. He'll be there but not able to access the official areas. If he isn't present then he'll be like Verbruggen when he was on holiday in July '98 IIRC - absent when he was most needed..... _________________ The internet is possibly the greatest bitch fest on earth. Errrr only that wasn't the UCI. It was the national federation, and it was the fact they wouldnt select him for the olmpics and then it was mentioned on TV that he'd been spotted in Italy. Other than that spot on. _________________

Of yes, of course, the Danish federation acted without consulting UCI?!!!
As Christian Prudhomme asked on TV at the time, why did UCI/Danish federation not mention the issue before the Tour started, when the information was available, but instead wait until Rasmussen had the yellow jersey.
It was just one of the underhand moves in this power play by the UCI, one in which they seem to have overplayed their hand, as the Pro Tour continues to be diminished. |
