I haven't used this in recent years, but am wondering whether I should buy some for early season races. |

Invariably I found if I used lots of the hot stuff I didn't ride well. So now would rather ride in knee or leg warmers if you need embrocation.
I just use a dab on the achilles or behind the knee if I use some. |

I love the burnie sensation. The creams with oil in do work for keeping warm in the wet as the oil is hydrophobic, thus minimising heat loss through latent heat of evaporation.
Better than leg wamers you have to take of mid race, or go along sodden and cold. |

tried it once. Didn't warm me at all until i'd finished and was driving home when it felt like my legs were on fire. _________________ Gordo's World of Zoom

It's just an irritant - you'd be as well rubbing your legs with stinging nettles. Utterly useless - one of the myths of cycling. _________________ ... |

agreed read Graeme Obree's book and see what he says and then remind yourself he is an original thinker. |

Blood flow to the skin might make you feel warmer, but you really want increased blood flow to the muscle. Which is exactly what happens when you start racing - and why you only feel the benefit of the embrocation when you're stood on the start line/sat in the car on the way home. |

Yeah but if you rub it in properly the rubbing promotes the blood flow to the muscles as well. Best use for stopping the rain touching the skin which is enough benefit for me to use it, I use it for rowing too for when you get splashed. _________________ I've got a plan.....and ITS AS HOT AS MY PANTS! |

if you've done *any* survival training, you'll soon learn that rubbing parts to 'warm' them is utterly pointless and doesn't work.
If you want to warm your muscles, do a warm up.
oils, rubbing, DELETED, etc ain't gonna make a blind bit of difference _________________ I'm gonna get me a motor car,

All of these comments and no one has mentioned Harold Nelson
